Monthly Mingle  We have collectively decided to start a Monthly Mingle. This will be one evening a month/term, where the staff will stay behind allowing all the parents to come to the setting and have a look at what the children have been learning, get any up-to-date information that the staff have learnt on courses, chat to other parents, make some friends and have an opportunity to speak to your child’s key person about any issues, questions or concerns you may have. We will provide some light nibbles and drinks and we hope to see as many of you as possible.

Monthly Mingle will be on Tuesday 6th June 18:00-19:00

Storytime   We have group/story time at 11.00/11.15 every morning. This is a really good opportunity for children’s voices to be heard and for us to recap what we have learnt that morning. We then read a story relating to what we’ve learnt.

This week a mum came in and read a lovely story to the children in French. They learnt some news words and were thoroughly engaged. We would like to ask that if any other parents (mums or dads) would like to come in and read a story or sing some songs, we would love to have you and the children would be very grateful to have somebody new reading them a story.

Drinking Water and Snack   Just a reminder that we have a drinking water policy that means whilst children are in our care, we only provide water or milk for them to drink here and therefore we do not allow juice/squash. If you do put juice in their drinking bottles, we will replace this with water. We have a drinking station within the room and the children are encouraged to use it themselves. This has been very popular with the children, and we are looking at putting another drinking station outside for when the weather gets a bit warmer. We are also a NUT FREE setting, so please read the packaging before putting it in your child’s lunchbox.

Thank you all for helping us to promote healthy eating at snack time. We have noticed a massive difference with the snacks that are on the snack trolley. We are always promoting healthy eating and drinking, and we would like to ask for fruit, vegetables, or crackers to be placed on the snack trolley in the morning. We use snack time as great opportunity to have conversations about how to keep our bodies healthy, so this will aid us in those conversations.

Weather   Now the weather is changing, we do advise suncream to be applied in the morning and we will reapply with their own suncream or use ours after lunch if we feel it is necessary. If the weather is particularly hot, we will avoid being outside and use the path as this is the shadiest part of the setting. We would like you to also provide a sunhat for your child. Please ensure this is labelled.

Things for Preschool   There are some things we are on the lookout for. If you happen to be getting rid of any of the following items, we will happily take them from you.

-  Large stones

-  lamps

-  Pots and pans

-  Wooden spoons

-  Shells

-  Metal trinkets

-  Slippers

-  Sarees

-  Fairy lights

-  Wedding hats or hair pieces

-  Photo frames

-  Cushions

Clothing and Footwear   Now the weather is getting a bit nicer, the children are spending large amounts of time playing outside in the water tray or in the mud kitchen. We therefore ask that you provide some spare clothes and wellies in case they need a full change of clothing. Unfortunately, we don’t have the means to provide every child with spare clothing.

Please ensure that your child’s belongings are named including clothes, bags, coats, shoes, drink bottles, snack and lunch boxes. We have already noticed that some items of clothing have come in unnamed and have not been taken home. If you would like us to write your child’s name in an item of clothing, we can do that with a sharpie pen. Please let us know during drop off.

Close the Gates  It is essential that all the gates are closed when entering and leaving preschool, including the gate leading into the school playground, so that the safety of those children still on-site can be upheld.
