Parents Newsletter - January 2024

NEW YEAR

Firstly, Happy New Year to you all. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the festivities. This year we want to continue adapting the learning environment for the children, so keep an eye out for updates on this.

STAFF CHANGES

After the Christmas break, Amelia announced that she is expecting her first baby in July 2024. I’m sure you will all join us in congratulating Amelia on her exciting news.

PARENTA

We hope that you are finding Parenta easy to use. Please do get in touch if there is anything you are struggling with.

MONTHLY MINGLE

We want to thank all the parents that have been attending the Monthly Mingles. We hope you have found them to be informative. We won’t be able to carry out a Mingle this term, but keep your eyes peeled for the next one. To keep these as interesting as possible, we would like to hear from parents about the things you want to see/discover at these events. Feel free to talk to a staff member or drop us an email.

DRINKING WATER AND SNACKS

We just wanted to say a thank you to parents for your co operations with water and lunches. Lunchboxes are looking great, with lots of variety for the children and giving us many talking points at the lunch table.

INVOICING

You can still discuss any invoicing queries using the email wasps.invoicing@gmail.com.

CLOSURE OF GATES

It is essential that all the gates are closed when entering and leaving preschool, including the gate leading into the school playground so that the safety of those children still-on-site can be upheld.

STORYTIME

Have group/story time at 11.00/11.15 every morning. We use this is an opportunity for the children’s voices to be heard and for us to recap what we have learnt that morning. We then read a story relating to what we’ve learnt.

In the past we have had children’s parents come in and read a lovely story to the children. Some parents read books in French or Spanish, where they learn some news words and were thoroughly engaged. If any parents would like to come in a read a story or sing some songs, we would love to have you and the children would be very grateful to have somebody new reading them a story.

NAPPIES AND WIPES

We have noticed that nappies are always very well provided by parents, and this is great. However, we are noticing that wet wipes are not being replaced in the bags by all parents. Whilst we try to provide spares for those that forget or misplaced wipes, we still need you to provide the majority of wet wipes for your child.

CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR

Please be mindful that the weather is particularly cold this time of year and we still want to provide free flow no matter the weather. While we do have some ‘all-in-one suits’, we do not have enough for everybody. We also have some spare wellies, but it would be really helpful if you could provide protective clothing and footwear for your child to wear at the setting.

Please ensure that your child’s belongings are named including clothes, bags, coats, shoes, drink bottles, snacks and lunch boxes. We have noticed that some items of clothing have come in unnamed and haven’t been taken home. If you would like us to write your child’s name in an item of clothing, we can do so with a sharpie pen. Please let us know during drop off.
